The Vigil Honor

A high mark of distinction and recognition reserved for those Arrowmen who, by reason of exceptional service, personal effort, and unselfish interest, have made distinguished contributions beyond the immediate responsibilities of their position or office to one or more of the following: their lodge, the Order of the Arrow, Scouting or their Scout camp. Under no circumstances should tenure in Scouting or the Order of the Arrow be considered as reason enough for a Vigil Honor recommendation.

Candidates for Nomination

  • Members must have been Brotherhood members for 2 years or longer at the time of selection by the lodge Vigil Nominating Committee, and
  • Currently registered and active with the Texas Trails Council, BSA, and
  • Currently registered (dues paid) and an active member of Penateka Lodge #561, Order of the Arrow

Vigil selection and induction is performed by the lodge, as opposed to chapters (with the exception of recommending candidates to the lodge nominating committe). Ref Page 31, Paragraph 2, Guide for Officers and Advisers.

For complete details on how the nomination process works, please see Page 31 in the Guide for Officers and Advisers.
